The enterprise was founded in 1972 as the Karl Nold GmbH, a smithery specializing in construction work. The smithery expanded, and beside the usual locksmith work the company began to build special handling equipment for horticultural purposes. About 15 years ago, they began to manufacture special low-frame vehicles and trailers for passenger cars.
This wide range of products offered then required a complex manufacturing program. Meanwhile the number of qualified employees had risen to 20 and the assembly shop had become too small. So, in 1992 a new manufacturing plant – with an area of 2500 m² - was constructed in the Erfelden industrial zone of Ziegeleistrasse.
In 1993 the enterprise was subdivided into the divisions KANO-Stahlbau, Transportgeräte GmbH and KANO-Fahrzeugbau, all of which are now managed by direct tradition-conscious descendants of the founder.
The company division Transportgerätebau (Construction of Handling Equipment) offers products especially for horticultural purposes - such as tables for greenhouses, sales stands and handling equipment, products which maintain their hold also on the international market. To facilitate marketing of these products the company takes part in c. 25 technical fairs and exhibitions a year.
